Perkins was contracted by a leading international supplier of industrial gases to move four (4) cryogenic storage tanks from a fabricator in Mont Belvieu, TX to Dawson Creek, BC. The first pair of storage tanks were transported together and all four were moved safely and to the satisfaction of our client during AB spring road bans.
A Canadian logistics company was contracted by an Alberta electric utility to transport a fully assembled IP/LP steam turbine from an ocean terminal warehouse in Norfolk, CA for a power plant site in southern Alberta. The project began when a Virginia-based rigging and transportation company was contracted by the client to move the turbine from storage, roll it onto a heavy-duty deck barge, and have it delivered to the Port of Duluth on Lake Superior.
Perkins was selected by a major industrial boiler manufacturer to move a series of five D-style boilers for them into northern Alberta to be used to support living conditions in that region's harsh winter climate. While not particularly heavy at only 178,000 lbs each, the boiler's physical characteristics provided their own challenges.
Perkins was hired as a subcontractor by Mammoet Canada Western Ltd to move an over-dimensional 209,000 lb reactor vessel from a major Houston, TX fabrication facility to the Canadian Natural Resources Ltd (CNRL) Horizon Oil Sands Project near Fort MacKay, AB. With vessel dimensions at 79’ - 0" long, 16’ - 5” wide and 16’ - 10” high, the piece was too dimensionally extreme for rail transportation and had to move over the road.
