Perkins STC was hired to haul seven (7) engines weighing 637,000 lbs each, 61 miles from a port in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan during the summer of 2018. The job took over a year and a half to plan due to the extreme dimensions and weight and three and a half weeks to complete. Multiple route surveys, feasibility studies, permitting authorities, third party support teams, and government entities were involved in the success of this move.

The BEST part of this move was that it was built in MINNESOTA by a MINNESOTA fabrication company owned by a MINNESOTA family, hauled by a MINNESOTA trucking company that’s owned and operated by a MINNESOTA family, with the help of many MINNESOTA support people, including MINNESOTA patrol and MINNESOTA utility personnel. It was hauled to a MINNESOTA refinery that employs many MINNESOTANS and was set in place by a MINNESOTA crane company that is owned by a MINNESOTA family. WOW! GO MINNESOTA!

Perkins has its share of battles finding the right people who are cut out for our line of work. Some last a day and others make it their career. We are incredibly lucky and grateful to our crews who work long-hard hours, travel non-stop, and make safety a priority.
Although we do disrupt normal traffic flow sometimes we know we can't do this without the HUGE help from the people of the state, cities, towns, and communities that we move through.
So, a THANK YOU is in order from us to you and yours.
It’s no secret that oversized loads are in the way; they are big, attract attention, are usually moving pretty slow, and the stakes are incredibly high. So, why wouldn’t you want certified professionals who are experts in understanding how to mitigate the numerous risks in front of and behind these loads at all times?
Often we lose sight of our accomplishments and how we compare to our competitors, customers, and vendors. Our continuous improvement program enables us to learn from near misses and helps to prevent them in happening in the future. It takes everyone to STAY SAFE – thank you!
